30 years ago Aslan funded the building of a home for Somali orphans (war orphans) in DireDawa. At the time this was the biggest project we attempted to fund. It was successful and the Gorro Home was established. Fast forward to 2020 and on a visit overseas Aslan President John Ramey hears, "Daddy, is that you Daddy Ramey?" Two young African men were smiling and walking toward him. They laughed and embraced him. "Daddy, we never forget you. We prayed for you every night at Gorro where we grew up. You were famous to us Daddy. You gave us our food and our school and our clothes." These guys were among the first kids that came to live at Gorro. They grew up to know and love the Lord Jesus and are now leading remarkable ministries serving the poor and hurting all over their country.
We are currently building a house/ministry center for one of our guys, a former witch. When we finish with this project we want to build another house/ministry center for another. For these two houses, we need $25,000.
