ASET runs two kindergartens in Mazar e Sharif reaching many of the poorest children in the district. In areas where there are no schools, the kindergartens are particularly vital in providing a high standard of early education for young children, where provision includes support for those with special needs. They also provide female teachers with a safe place for their own children during the day, which enables them to continue to work in order to support their families.

Women’s Training Centre
A centre to provide a safe place for Afghan women to study, be trained and to learn new skills including: computers, internet, English, health and beauty, making handicrafts, art, business and management.

During the last decade, ASET has built hospital clinics, water towers, schools, and a kindergarten. All of these facilities have dramatically affected the communities in which they are located.
Afghanistan has one of the highest infant mortality rates in the world, with an estimated 900 children under five dying every day. A major factor in this is a lack of safe drinking water. ASET works with communities to build wells while also offering safe water training in hygiene and sanitation. The project has already completed 13 wells serving more than five communities and benefitting thousands of people.
English and Teacher Training
ASET is committed to education as a fundamental element of development work. Over 300 teachers have been trained in the ASET Teacher Training program and hundreds of young people are learning English in the village surrounding Mazar-e-Sharif due to English teaching programs.
Maternal Healthcare Programs
Afghanistan has one of the world’s highest rates of maternal and infant mortality. ASET has and continues to run various programs to help combat this needless tragedy.
