We now cry out in prayer for another little boy, Karim. His name means “Generous”. Less than year ago, he was born with spina bifida to a poor relative of Hab’s living in her countryside village. Six months ago he underwent an operation to drain fluid from his spine. Until recently, Karim has been fairly healthy, playing, and starting to speak.
However, a few weeks ago, his stomach started hurting. Finally the pain became so intense, it forced his mother take a 4 hour bus ride to our city’s public hospital.
Two local public hospitals turned them away with the excuse that they didn’t have a doctor who could deal with a urinary and kidney infection. She was referred to a larger public hospital 5 hours away. In the public health system’s estimation, her son already had an operation, and he wasn’t worth treating again. In frustration, Karim and his mother returned to their village.
Hab and her sister Khad were devastated for their relative. They sprang into action to get Karim medical help at a private clinic and are rallying the Christian community in Agadir to help with costs. By faith, we’re committing to meeting at least $2,000 in expenses.
This afternoon, Karim was admitted to the clinic. He showed almost immediate improvement after inserting a catheter and starting intravenous antibiotics. Surgery will follow after he is stable. With our advocacy, the doctor and staff are giving compassionate care.
Joan breathed a prayer for peace in Berber over Karim’s distraught mother and for her little boy’s healing. A short time later, Karim was resting comfortably. His mother was still reluctant to leave her son overnite, wondering if he would be alive in the morning.
Please join us in prayer for:
- A miraculous healing for little Karim
- The mother to know the depth of God’s love for her and her son
- Collection of enough funds to cover care
